On Saturday night (Jan. 30), Drake finally gave fans a semblance of hope that his long awaited new album would soon be here. The "Hotline Bling" rapper premiered his first official single "Summer Sixteen" from his highly anticipated Views From the 6 album on his OVO Sound Radio station on Apple Music and revealed the LP is slated to drop in April 2016.
At 6 p.m., all ears were attuned to Drake's OVO Sound station as he had taken to Instagram much earlier to let fans know that he had a special surprise treat in store. The "6 god" opened the hour with the remix of Future's "March Madness" featuring Nas, Rihanna's new track off Anti "Work" and more.
But, the pièce de résistance was "Summer Sixteen," where Drake could be heard taking shots yet again at his rap rival Meek Mill, Drake opened the track singing, "Looking for revenge / All summer sixteen, all summer sixteen / We playin' dirty, never clean / Out from of Four Seasons looking a like a football team."
Drake's makes reference to he and Mill staying at the same hotel prior to "Back to Back" dropping. He continues, "I let the diss record drop you were standing right below me, n*gga / We must have played it a hundred times, you was going to bed / Why would I put on a vest I expect you to aim for the head? / I coulda killed you the first time / You don't have to try to say it louder n*gga / We could hear you the first time / It's nothing personal I would have done it to anyone."
At the conclusion of the show he left fans know that in honor of his hometown Toronto, he would dropping the album come April 2016. No specific date has been given just yet.
