Crowder - Neon Steeple
Crowder mixes styles with ease as only he can. Songs like "Hands Of Love" go from techno-dance to bluegrass and back and while you're confused as to how he pulled it off, you're lovin' it. For those longing for something more reminiscent of the old DCB sound, "Come Alive" fits the bill - almost. The pairing with Emmylou Harris on "My Sweet Lord" is pure folk magic. Listening to the two harmonize, you can almost see them sitting on a porch somewhere in the mountains, singing to the Lord himself. Then there are the lyrics ... the man can write a song that speaks to your heart, preaching a blue streak, while not sounding a bit preachy. A prime example is "Come As You Are." The peace of the music and vocals is only topped by the words he's singing.
There’s hope for the hopeless
And all those who’ve strayed
Come sit at the table
Come taste the grace
There’s rest for the weary
Rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow
That Heaven can’t cure
Bottom line: This is Crowder 2.0. There is no other artist out there that could pull off an album so varied and still make it flow, yet for David Crowder, it's as easy as breathing.
