If there's one thing that comes to mind when thinking of heavy metal rockers GWAR it's usually, "I really wish this band had a restaurant because their concerts make me hungry!" Well, you're in luck because the band recently announced plans to open a restaurant in their hometown of Richmond, Virginia, aptly titled GWARbar.
The band plans to open the eatery later this summer with the help of Richmond's restaurateur of 2013, Travis Croxton. They recently issued a press release stating GWARbar is "the singularly most important culinary event to occur since the invention of the spoon!" Who can argue?
The menu, which is sure to be different from anything we've ever seen (after all, they are from a different planet), is going to be crafted by the band's rhythm guitarist and creator of their GWAR-B-Q sauce, BalSac the Jaws of Death. In regards to the news, the guitarist said, "My mother taught me the endless secrets of intergalactic cooking. Then I ate her." Yep, GWARbar is surely going to be something special.
The idea of opening a restaurant was a longtime dream of founding member / vocalist Dave Brockie, better known to fans all around the world as Oderus Urungus. Brockie was unfortunately found dead back in March.
Despite their singer's sad death, GWAR is set to play their annual GWAR-B-Q and is currently on the lineup for this year's Riot Fest.
