Earlier this month, Kanye West tweeted that his new record, formerly titled Swish, but now called Waves, would be the "Best Album Ever." Just recently, West took to Twitter to retract the statement, and explained the true meaning behind Waves.
West backed down a bit from his bold statement in a series of tweets, claiming that Waves is just "ONE of the greatest albums," not the absolute best. He paid respect to some of R&B and hip-hop's forefathers in the process, crediting Puff Daddy, Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, Pete Rock, Tupac and more.
Out of respect for Q-Tip, Puff, Hov, Lauren, Pharcyde, Mary, Stevie, Michael, Hendrix, James, Pete Rock, Pac, Marvin….

Back in early January 2016, West had tweeted revealed that his album will be released on Thursday, Feb. 11. About two weeks later, West took to Twitter again to announce that he was changing the title of his album from Swish to Waves.
West has rolled out a small number of tracks from Waves ahead of its release, including "No More Parties in LA" and "Real Friends."
