X, one of the most influential members of America's first punk movement, will play at least four concerts during 2014, each of which will feature the Los Angeles band playing the entirety of classic albums from the band's discography. Nearly immediately after that announcement was made, vocalist Exene Cervenka made a move that makes us want to separate ourselves from she and her music, but we'll get to that. Good news first.
X—featuring original members Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom and D.J. Bonebrake—will come together to play four shows at the Roxy Theatre between July 10-13. Each concert will feature a live performance of the band's first four albums: Los Angeles, Wild Gift, Under The Big Black Sun and More Fun in the New World, in that order. X performed Los Angeles in the title city before, completing the album live along with Doors' keyboardist Ray Manzarek during 2012.
There are no suggestions of other tour dates at this moment, and we'll have to see how the most recent news alert featuring X plays out before we hypothesize about future concerts.
Cervenka took to the internet earlier this week to upload YouTube videos purportedly proving that the recent shooting in Santa Barabara, California was in fact a hoax. She stated that she was "sick of these hoaxes," repeating claims that the most recent shooting and that which took place in Sandy Hook during 2012 were actually staged by the government in order to justify gun control legislation. The vocalist, who claims to be a "conspiracy therapist," alleges that the government is seeking to prevent citizens from defending themselves against it. That's a rather right-wing claim from a Los Angeles punk frontwoman.
Hey, it hasn't kept Ted Nugent from touring successfully.
