As January came to a close and anticipation for Kanye West’s forthcoming album grew, he revealed yet another title change for the project, which led to an online war of words between the rapper and fellow lyricist Wiz Khalifa. Now that the two have put their beef over the Max B-inspired title WAVES behind them, West recently took to social media to hint at a “new secret album title.”
While everyone else was winding down from Beyoncé’s epic Super Bowl 50 performance and the Broncos victory over the Panthers, West slipped in an update on his album on Sunday (Feb. 7) night.
"There may be a new secret album title," he tweeted, before bragging about his Twitter stats. "Caught 10,000 retweets in half a second #facts.”
This wouldn’t be the first time the “Stronger” rapper decided to switch things up for this project. Last March, he announced that the album would be called So Help Me God. The name has since been changed to SWISH and then WAVES.
As noted by HotNewHipHop, Yeezy’s wife Kim Kardashian has run polls asking fans which of the suggested album titles they like best (WAVES, SWISH, or So Help Me God).
Nonetheless, if West decides to stick with WAVES, he’s received the stamp of approval from Max B.
"It's all love. I appreciate it," he said during a call to The Breakfast Club. "I'm flattered that dudes is even acknowledging the situation. Everybody know I'm an innovator. Everybody know I got imagination. I come up with these words and these slogans and these catch phrases and it's all good when the people follow suit. I like Kanye, I appreciate it. I love it, thank you."
While the album’s title seems to be up in the air, the Feb. 11 release date is a sure thing. Check back with us for more updates.
