Kaytranada was flying high last week when he found out his track "At All" had been nominated for a 2016 Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year. It was a bit of a headscratcher for many who knew the song had been released in 2013, well before the qualifying period. Realizing their mistake, the Juno Awards then revoked his nomination and replaced it with Borgeous & Lights track "Zero Gravity," another interesting choice since the main artist, Borgeous, is from the United States.
They explain after an "internet review" that the song was invalid due to its release date. Now the category includes five songs from Keys N Krates, Sleepy Tom & Diplo, Torro Torro, A-Trak and Borgeous, getting the assist from Canadian singer and songwriter, Lights.
This is pretty embarrasing for the Juno Awards as manjor award shows try and appeal to younger audiences. Having these gaffs like the Al Walser nomination at the Grammys in 2013 should serve as a wake up call that the older voting block needs to start paying attention to what young people listen to.

As you might expect, the Montreal-based producer was not too enthused with how the whole thing was handled, calling the Canadian music "out of touch."
Shoutout to the Canadian music scene for being so out of touch

i've lot my respect to the Junos, cause they don't know what they're nominating. They need more kids in their offices to take care of that. — KAYTRA (@KAYTRANADA) February 5, 2016
