It's always been a task coming up with plausible reasons to be late for or to miss school but sometimes, honesty is the best policy. Yesterday, a father penned a hilariously honest letter to school officials, blaming Monday night's Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band gig at the Times Union Center for his daughter's late arrival to school, comparing The Boss being in town to God appearing!
The Albany stop of The River Tour had fans impatiently waiting to see "The Boss," who didn't disappoint after being forced to cancel and reschedule Madison Square Garden tour dates. The New Jersey native ended up delivering a three and a half hour performance, causing fans of all ages to stay late and enjoy all Springsteen had to offer. The Times Union shared the crafty letter written by Patrick Pipino, which read:
"To Whom It May Concern. Please excuse Isabelle's tardiness to school today. In the interest of honesty, I feel it my obligation to be straight with all of you as to the reason. Last night Isabelle was lucky enough to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Albany, and darned if he didn't play for three and a half hours."
Monday night's Times Union Center gig notched Springsteen's eighth stop on The River 2016 tour, which brought fans the execution of the singer's classic 1980 album along with the tour premiere of "Be True." The track originally posed as the B-side to "Fade Away." Another tour specialty was "Detroit Medley," which found the assembly of four songs written by Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels in the mid-60s.
"This may not seem like a good excuse," Pipino continued in the letter. "But have you ever wondered how many kids would be late - or miss school outright - if God were to suddenly appear? It's something like that."
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will continue on The River tour through April 25 with a possibility of extending dates and heading to Europe.
