Humans are pattern driven creatures. It's why we stare at the random brush strokes on our ceilings and see faces interwoven into the paint and plaster. So it was only a matter of time before someone found a link between two very fervent fan bases; Star Wars and Pink Floyd. Following up on theories of the album Dark Side of the Moon syncing with The Wizard of Oz, a new theory has the album synced to The Force Awakens. That's no moon, that's a conspiracy theory.
According to some sleuth Redditors via Consequence of Sound, if you start Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon to play right after the opening scroll of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens you'll get some very coincidental synchronized moments (or purposeful ones if you're a conspiracy theorist).
The album requires listeners repeat the album three times in order to make it all the way through, and apparently you'll come up with some pretty interesting dialog moments. Be warned, spoilers for the movie lie ahead. However, there's no excuse for not having heard Dark Side Of The Moon by now.
There are two instances where David Gilmore's line "I'm not afraid of dying/ anytime will do" syncs up with the movie. The first is when Poe first wakes up on the table in the torture chamber and then Clare Torry's screams on "The Great Gig In The Sky" come in at the same time as Poe's own screeches of horror. The second is one of the meet ups between Finn, Chewie and the soon to be toast Han.
The Redditor with far too much time on their hands, also points to the general atmosphere "Time" provides as viewers are first introduced to Rey, or the sad piano of "The Great Gig In The Sky" when Kylo Ren is talking to Darth Vader's helmet.
There are a ton of moments mentioned in the original post and a vigorous debate happening below in the comments as to whether it's really on purpose or not. However, the sync is far from perfect, as promoters of the Dark Side of the Rainbow theory would espouse, claiming the album and The Wizard of Oz were designed for one another.
It'll be some time yet before fans can really test the theory. You can however watch the Dark Side of the Rainbow below.
