LISTEN: Lily Allen Releases Ode to England in New Song Bass Like Home', an 'Unofficial World Cup Anthem'

Forget Shakira, Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez... there's a new 2014 World Cup anthem now. Today (June 3), "Hard Out Here" singer Lily Allen unveiled her "unofficial" World Cup song "Bass Like Home" on her Soundcloud account.

The track, which plays less like a typical ode to soccer (or football) and more like a theme song for England's World Cup bid, plays tribute to Allen's homeland. "There's no place like home," she sings in the song's chorus. Additionally, Allen namechecks quite a few of England's more famous exports in "Bass Like Home," bragging about her country's contribution of John Lennon, melon, the Queen, beer and more.

Though lyrically rooted in English pride, with lyrics that also play up the country's more scenic towns, the music screams Latin America, playing off FIFA's 2014 home of Brazil.

Like more official World Cup songs, "Bass Like Home" features tribal, infectious beat, electronic vibes to bring the timeline up to 2014 and plenty of conga drums.

The carefree track is only amplified by Allen's voice, which happily plays off the heavier instrumentation.

Allen originally posted the song on her official Twitter and Soundcloud, though "Bass Like Home" has inexplicably been removed from her Soundcloud account. Nevertheless, the track is still available in all its glory online, thanks to the powers of the Internet.
