On Monday night (Feb. 15) at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, Kendrick Lamar brought audience members to their feet with a powerful thought provoking performance of “The Blacker the Berry” and “Alright." It didn’t take long for stars in the audience as well as those viewing at home to react to Lamar’s moving performance, and inadvertently shade Kanye West in the process.
Lamar had the audience's full attention as he appeared alongside a chain gang for powerful visuals bringing light to the number of minorities continuously being incarcerated, then transitioning into a scene of an African dance ritual, where Lamar and dancers moved in tandem to the message of his lyrics.
It didn’t take long for Lamar to receive a massive amount of praise from his peers, along with fellow performers such as Adele who voiced, “Kendrick, I loved your performance!”
However the warm reception Lamar received via Twitter was unmatched. The Daily Show host and comedian, Trevor Noah took to Twitter to praise Lamar, and shade West in the below tweet.
Those white people in the audience looked terrified. Right now they wish Beyonce was on stage. #GRAMMYs #KingKendrick

Kendrick is what Kanye would have been if the Kardashians didn't get him.#GRAMMYs #KingKendrick — Trevor Noah (@Trevornoah) February 16, 2016
He was not the only who shared similar sentiments as later actress, Jackée Harry chimed in with her own opinions comparing Lamar and West to one another, suggesting that the latter should take note.
I hope @kanyewest is watching @kendricklamar, taking notes. #GRAMMYs — Jackée Harry (@JackeeHarry) February 16, 2016
