If we are to be judged by a party of our own peers, Seattle indie rockers Deep Sea Diver's tracklist of songs on their upcoming 2016 album, Secrets, are exceptional. You can pre-order the album now, but its official release date is Friday, Feb. 19, via the band's own label, High Beam Records. While we appreciate album reviews from music publications (especially our own!), it seems like a better idea to listen to fellow musicians' opinions and praise of songwriter Jessica Dobson's latest - and there is plenty of praise for this 10-track record from the likes of Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard, Spoon's Britt Daniel, Delta Spirit's Matthew Logan Vasquez, and more accomplished songwriters.

Supporting the release of this new album, Deep Sea Diver is out on tour right now, with Radiation City. You can check out these concert dates right here:
Secrets marks the band's first full-length release since 2012's History Speaks, and clearly takes on a grittier sound than what we're used to. In a recent interview with Seattle's The Stranger, Dobson explained her songwriting process as taking "a step in the direction of having-I don't know if 'jarring' is the right word, but more in-your-face guitar tones."
According to these track-by-track reviews from other musicians, Secrets is one of the best albums of the year.
"No matter how well they record this song (and they recorded it beautifully), it will never compare to how noisy and fun this track is going to be live," Matthew Logan Vasquez says of "Wide Awake." Meanwhile, Ben Gibbard admits that he has "learned there's a reason I became a songwriter and not a music journalist; I seem to completely lack the ability to write eloquently about such a beautiful song."
These reviews are compiled over at Consequence of Sound, and include words from The Shins' James Mercer, Deerhoof's Greg Saunier, Blake Mills, Delicate Steve, and more. This link also leads to a stream of the album, which you should definitely listen to, by the way!
