Kesha: Friday's ruling
Kesha: support
If the past is any indication - Zedd could probably produce a big dance-pop song for Kesha. He has experience producing tracks with big pop stars. He assisted on Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber's collaboration "Beauty and a Beat," he produced Ariana Grade's hit "Break Free" and he produced three songs of Lady Gaga's Artpop.
As the lead artist he also produced platinum records like "I Want You To Know" with Selena Gomez, "Stay The Night" with Hayley Williams and of course his breakout record "Clarity."
If she chooses to accept and it is eventually released, this combination has some serious potential.
Zedd is signed to Interscope Records, which is a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, which could pose an issue if Interscope decided to nix any collaboration.
Zedd is not the first to offer his support to Kesha. Pop and indie rock writer and singer, Jack Antonoff offered to record and leak music for Kesha as well.
In 2015 Zedd released his sophomore album True Colors. He has not released anything since, just remixes and videos off of the album, but on Friday he will share his first single since May, "Candyman" featuring Aloe Blacc.
On Friday a New York City judge denied Kesha's injunction that would have allowed her to record music outside the guise of Dr. Luke. She claims she isn't "free" to record music without him, though Dr. Luke disputes those claims. For now she is stuck with Sony Music and her alleged abuser Dr. Luke.
