Miguel has proven that he is not one of those R&B singers who becomes successful and forgets where he or she came from. Not only did he stop by his old middle school, but while he was there he decided to perform for the students and faculty at their talent show.
The students of Dana Middle School in Hawthorne, CA, were given the ultimate surprise when an unexpected perfomer took the stage to belt out his hit single "Adorn" during the school's talent show. According to This Is RnB, Miguel visited the school on Feb. 19 to be part of the talent show as a guest performer. The mention of his name by the announcer prompted screams and great enthusiasm from the crowd of students who were overwhelmed with excitement to see the Wildheart singer take the stage.
Miguel captured the moment spent at his old school and shared it with his Instagram followers with a caption that read, "Visited my old middle school for this year's talent show tonight. Crazy, I always loved the smell of the auditorium and it was exactly how I remember it. Huge shout to all the students, parents, family friends and staff. Loved every moment #danamiddleschool #wildheart."
The surprise performance at the California middle school came just days after another stellar performance from the 30-year-old, who took the stage at the 2016 Grammy Awards on Feb. 15, for a special tribute to Michael Jackson. As reported by Billboard, Miguel and keyboardist Greg Phillinganes performed Jackson's hit single "She's Out of My Life," as a video of Jackson singing the song played in the background. Phillinganes is reportedly the song's original keyboardist who played alongside Jackson during the recording of the single.
Miguel received two nominations for this year's 58th Grammy Awards in the Best R&B Song catergory for his single "Coffee;" and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Wildheart.
