Linkin Park To Headline MTV's First Comic-Con Fan Festival, Awards Show

MTV is pulling out all the stops for Comic-Con.

The Hollywood Reporter says the network is planning to expand its presence at the festival next month. The site also reports that MTV will host its first ever awards show and festival with Linkin Park headlining.

The mtvU Fandom Awards and the Linkin Park-fronted MTV Fan Fest are slated to take place on Thursday, July 24, as the festivities kick off at Petco Park in San Diego.

"The mtvU Fandom Awards will reinvent the traditional award show format," said Ryan Kroft, mtvU Fandom Awards executive producer. "In addition to handing out trophies, we will recognize the achievements of fans and their favorite obsessions with special surprises and experiences. It's the perfect event to reward the fans at Comic-Con, the epicenter of all fandoms."

The Fandom Awards have been billed as the "ultimate celebration for die-hard fanboys and fangirls."

This is the second year MTV has teamed up with Comic-Con.

Last year, the network threw the MTV2 Party in the Park at Petco. The event featured performances by New Politics and Dillon Francis.

MTV's Teen Wolf has been a fan favorite at the convention.

Can't make it to San Diego in July? Don't worry!

mtvU will air an hourlong special Sunday, July 27, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, highlighting the best moments and performances.

Stay tuned for updates on MTV's Comic-Con events. Nominees and voting categories for the mtvU Fandom Awards will be revealed at a later date.
