Swans' Michael Gira Accused Of Rape By Larkin Grimm

Just as the music industry is trying to grapple with the ongoing Kesha and Dr. Luke sexual assault lawsuit, Swans' frontman Michael Gira has been accused of rape by fellow singer Larkin Grimm.

In a long Facebook post, Grimm described in graphic detail the night where she was allegedly assaulted by Gira. Gira was the producer on her 2008 album Parplar and the night they finished the LP they went out to a steakhouse to celebrate. She drank a lot and had to stay at one of his friend's place. She then describes waking up in the middle of the night to find Gira having non-consensual sex with her.

During the recording process she describes several unwanted sexual advances from Gira.

"Many people have assumed, over the years that Michael and I had a love affair, and in a way, for a time, maybe we did. But I never consented to having sex with him," Grimm later describes. "I wouldn't have wanted to ruin such an important opportunity that way. Technically, he raped me. It took me a long time to admit that to myself. Years. Michael Gira, my producer, raped me and dumped me from his label when I confronted him about it, needing to feel safe."

The accusations have been vehemently denied by Michael Gira and his wife, Jennifer. Gira describes the accusations as a "slanderous life" and took to Facebook to share a post from his wife who describes the accusations as "false" and says she has proof in her hand that it did not happen.

"As you may know, Michael dropped Larkin, and she has been jilted about it ever since. Larkin may know in the past, Michael has shuddered and simply deleted her harassing emails/texts, rambling obsessive tomes, declarations of unrequited love, hate speech, and threats to him but, guess what sweetheart!- his wife is well aware----and his wife, is rather analytical, organized, -and doesn't put up with any bullshit," Jennifer Gira says. "I have PROOF, in Larkin's own hand, that her allegations of Michael raping her *did not happen."
