Madonna has been fighting hard to get custody of her 15-year-old son, Rocco, and has even brought the matter to court, but new reports reveal that the "Like A Virgin" star has lost her battle to ex-husband Guy Ritchie.
The American singer couldn't hide her sadness during her recent concert in Auckland, New Zealand when she dedicated her performance of “La Vie en Rose” to her son while delivering a brief speech about the pain she felt about the matter.
“There’s no love stronger than a mother for her son, and if I talk about him too much, I’m going to cry,” she said in a video posted on TMZ. “I hope he hears this somewhere and he knows how much I miss him.”
Rocco had joined Madonna on her tours, but left her Rebel Hearts world tour in December 2015 and decided to stay with his father in London. Since then, Rocco stayed with Ritchie despite court orders to make him return to New York with Madonna in January.
"Frankly, both parties have chosen to live their lives in a very public way and may welcome the publicity, but the child has not," Judge Deborah Kaplan said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. "He [Rocco] would like this matter resolved, and the issues concerning him and his family, in the most private way possible."
The judge requested for Madonna and Ritchie to agree on the matter privately, but if they cannot come up with an agreement, they will return to court on June 1 in New York.
The "Material Girl" hit maker is also worried about her son's welfare as paparazzi photos reveal that he has shaved his head and was seen smoking a suspicious looking cigarette with a group of older boys on the street, The Sun reported.
