Just because Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith had that much talked about drum-off on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show last month doesn't mean the battle is over. Yes, Ferrell won the coveted Golden Cowbell, but there are many others out there believed to be worthy of stepping behind the set and battling it out for the title.
And it appears the dynamic drumming duo has chosen their next target: Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.
The comedian recently told Spin, "Lars gets pissed because he gets mistaken for both me and Chad Smith. He can settle that score now, too." Smith then chimed in, stating, "There it is. The gauntlet is down."
While the two admit that the famed drummer is completely unaware of their challenge, the mere fact that the comedian believes him to look "eerily similar" to the two of them makes it a valid contest. And honestly, who wouldn't love to see the three of them go at it?
The Spin interview went on to discuss the first time the two came face-to-face with one another, which was at an after-party for Tim Meadows' The Ladies Man. "You just looked me up and down really quick and said, 'You're very handsome,'" Smith recalled.
The two then gave their thoughts on the recent news surrounding Weezer drummer Pat Wilson's flawless catch of a Frisbee during a concert. "We once had a drum-off on the deck of a boat," said Ferrell, "and I snagged a marlin right out of the air."
Can Lars do that? Probably not!
And now, let us remember that famed Chad Smith / Will Ferrell drum-off on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
