17-year-old heartthrob Shawn Mendes is breaking girls' hearts left and right as he embarks on his headlining tour. This isn't because of any type of relationship change, it's due to the debut of three new songs at Radio City Music Hall, the first stop of his tour, which will give you all the feels.
Mendes started off a night full of surprises by bringing out Camila Cabello of Fifth Harmony to perform their duet "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Although that surprise alone would have been enough for the "Stiches" singer's fans, he decided to go the extra yard and give them three new songs to hold over their anticipation for his upcoming sophomore album.
In his song "Ruin," Mendes dropped the acoustic guitar and opted for an electric guitar for a song that sounds a bit like John Mayer and is a bluesy more downtempo jam. He was able to get his audience involved and lead them into a "Do I ever cross your mind" sing-along. He also performed "Three Empty Words" and lost the guitar altogether for the piano ballad "Like This" which Mendes belted through and leave no question about how talented of a singer he is.
Mendes tour kicks off about a year after his debut album Handwritten was released, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and the album he gained his first top ten single with "Stiches." Mendes also opened for Taylor Swift's The 1989 World Tour, which recently wrapped up.
It is unsure whether Mendes's newest songs are off his upcoming sophomore album.
Mendes's Radio City concert is the start of his tour which he is leaving to go to Europe in April for and will be back in July to finish his North American tour dates.
