PSY Plans To Drop New Single ‘Daddy’ In August

The summer of PSY is coming! Following the recent release of his "Hangover" video, which featured the K-pop star alongside Snoop Dogg, PSY told fans that he'll be releasing his new official single this coming August titled "Daddy."

While "Hangover" has quickly become one of the most popular videos around online, the track is actually the pre-release to "Daddy." We know... wait, what is that? Right?

Well, though it's confusing as all hell here in the United States, the idea of a pre-release is rather commonplace elsewhere. K-pop artists typically release an official single, video and album altogether, but will occasionally unveil a pre-release track with an accompanying video to hype up the crowd.

Having said that, the perplexing notion didn't stop us from making "Hangover" an overnight hit. The video premiered just a few days ago and already has over 38 million views on YouTube. Who knows if it was because we just couldn't wait for another track from PSY or because the entire country just loves Snoop that much.

Check out the "Hangover" video below:

Turns out it was PSY's idea to drop "Hangover" as a pre-release. The artist's record label, YG Entertainment, recently stated, "PSY himself was the person who created the 'Gangnam Style' syndrome all over the globe. It is only natural that we let him do what he wants...rather than analyzing the 'mega-viral' formula of his previous songs and forcing himself to create another one like it, doing what he wants to do now is the answer."

Hmm, letting the artist do what they want? Not exactly sure the US record labels will understand that.

Regardless, YG is describing this summer's "Daddy" as a "fun, dance song." Given the artist's track record, it seems safe to say that the world cannot wait for this single to drop.

So, will "Daddy" start a craze just like his past releases, "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman"?
