Oliver Heldens has been a busy man this winter releasing music under his Hi-Lo moniker, growing his Heldeep label and touring the globe as just a 20 year-old DJ and producer. He returns to his original namesake in Oliver Heldens to release a brand new song "Ghost" featuring RUMORS.
The new single does not venture too far from the "future house" sound that Heldens help pioneer with his genre-defining record "Gecko" back at the end of 2014. The jogging bass line is toned down a little bit in favor of the deep bass stabs that carry the melody from start to finish. The male vocals from RUMORS add a different edge to the track, as it has been typical for Heldens to use female vocalists on his records. RUMORS sounds very similar to Matthew Koma, who has been a very popular name among other EDM DJs.
It is another energetic track added to his discography that he has been playing out sparingly since Tomorrowland last year. It may not be his next big hit, but it is nice to see him put out a good record as a free download and not a throwaway.
Though this is a free download, Heldens is putting a lot into the record. He recorded a music video for the track, where the Dutchman will be featured about 14 times potentially in different forms. Oliver Heldens is in the midst of his North American bus tour that has already brought him to clubs and venues in Atlantic City, Washington DC and Denver with more gigs in St. Louis, Dallas and Miami to come.
