Mike Lee, whose debut EP, Awakening Hearts, hit stores last month, started writing songs at a young age. When he was only 14, he found his dad’s old guitar and began writing down songs in order to talk to the Lord. Those quiet moments of contemplation, time spent in the Word and connecting with God through song, are what inevitably led to Mike leading worship at church and youth gatherings. Within a year of becoming a worship leader, Lee realized that the music was his calling, not just his hobby or job. He grew his ministry to include traveling around the region, singing, teaching and mininstering to others from the bible.
When Mike and his wife Michelle had their son, Preston, Mike wanted to be home with his family, so he settled in with a local church. Michelle knew that God had called Mike to do more, so she reached out to Scott and Ed Cash, the legendary producers behind artists like Chris Tomlin, David Crowder and Kari Jobe. The brothers invited Mike to record a project in their studio and for the next two years, the three men worked together to write the music and expand the ministry. A kickstarter campaign came next and the goal was met and then exceeded by almost $7000. The extra allowed Mike to record five songs instead of three and Awakening Hearts was born.
Mike will be taking the new songs on the road this summer, visiting four states.
