The Lonely Island have helped define the pop-culture lexicon over the past decade with songs like "I'm On A Boat," "Dick In A Box" and "Jizz In My Pants." Now the music and acting comedy group, led by Andy Samberg, are back with their biggest project to date, a movie titled Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. The trailer just premiered online and it has some big name cameos from other musicians like Usher, Carrie Underwood, DJ Khaled and others.
The R-Rated trailer takes you into the life of pop star Connor4Real (looks a lot like Justin Bieber), who is the man saving the record industry according to Simon Cowell and who Carrie Underwood coyly admits is really hot.
He is the biggest pop star in the world, flanked by legions of screaming "connfidants" as fans. He has a team 32 people deep that includes his publicist Sarah Silverman who wants him to be as ubiquitous as oxygen itself, some of the Lonely Island usual suspects in Akiva Schaffer as his lyricist and Jorma Taccone as the DJ.
Snoop Dogg is even a part of the crew as his Doggfather.
The collaboration with DJ Khaled was hinted at on the "All I Do Is Win" artist's Snapchat a few months ago when he said they were up to something.
Samberg previewed the film recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live, when he unveiled the poster, the final title for the film and the release date. The Judd Apatow-produced film will be released on June 3.
This may be the largest and most ridiculous thing The Lonely Island has ever done, so bring your kids, bring your family and especially bring your grandparents to the movies to see this one.
