Lil Mama Releases Statement From Jail, I was 'Totally Irresponsible'

Lil Mama has found herself in a little bit of trouble that landed her behind bars in New York. The rapper wants fans to know that she's taking full responsibility for her actions and she was "totally irresponsible."

Driving 13 mph over the speed limit sounds like a minor traffic offense that deserves a mere slap on the wrist, but, as reported by EUR, that wasn't the case for Lil Mama. The "Lip Gloss" performer was pulled over by police in Harlem on the morning of Thursay, March 10, at around 4 a.m. for speeding.

It wasn't the speeding ticket that landed her in jail however. According to the report, her driver's license had previously been revoked and she was still operating a vehicle. The 27-year-old rapper has been behind bars since her arrest that morning and, according to TMZ, she's taking full responsibility for her actions.

As reported by the site, Lil Mama is extremely apologetic for her part in this situation and admits that she was "totally irresponsible." She's willing to face any consequences that may arise due to her actions.

The Brooklyn rapper works closely with her role model, MC Lyte, and was even featured in one of Lyte's singles, "Ball." Lil Mama has also shared stages with '90s trio TLC's remaining members T-Boz (Tionne Watkins) and Chilli (Rozonda Thomas), as a fill in rapper for their deceased group member, Left Eye (Lisa Lopes.) She also took on the role as Lopes in the VH1 biopic chronicling the career and struggles of the group, CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.

In her released statement, Lil Mama expressed how "she very much wants to 'continue to be a role model for young women and men,'" according to TMZ.

There's no word on any release as of now.
