Newly married couple Ne-Yo and Crystal Renay are the proud parents of a new baby boy that they welcomed into the world on March 15, 2016. R&B singer Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Shamir Smith, welcomed his third child, and first with wife Crystal Renay just under one month after their private wedding ceremony in February. As reported by E! Online, Prince Shaffer Chimere Smith Jr. was born after Renay had to undergo emergency surgery, delivering by C-Section.
Smith is already the father of two, a girl, Madilyn Grace Smith, and a boy Mason Evan Smith, with ex-girlfriend Monyetta Shaw. Though this is the "Miss Independent" singer's third time around experiencing the birth of his child, he is still just as excited about becoming a father to baby "SJ," as the couple adorably nicknamed him in their recent hospital Instagram post.
Crystal Renay took to Instagram to share a photo that captured a sentimental moment between mommy and baby, as reported by Vibe.
Though the delivery was scary for the first time mom, she expressed how giving birth turned out to be one of the most rewarding and amazing experiences she had ever encountered. Hashtagging the photo with #BestDayOfMyLife, the new mom can be seen holding the tiny hand of baby "SJ," who weighed 6lbs, 8 oz when he was born, and was 19 inches long.
People Magazine reported on how the newlyweds were excited to settle down and start their life together. The pair started dating after meeting for the first time at a business dinner where she actually showed up late. Despite her tardiness to the meeting, there was something about her that Ne-Yo just couldn't resist and he knew right away that she would be the one he married.
"I was fighting it because when we met, I had been single for about a year and a half, and I was enjoying being single," he recalled of his days as bachelor with People. "I'm not normally the kind of guy to jump into a relationship quickly, [but Renay] threw a wrench in all my singleness."
