The 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards are quickly approaching and according to a recent announcement, Daddy Yankee and Don Omar are slated to perform together.
Yankee and Omar will reportedly perform together on television for the first time as part of the "Billboard Duets" feature. As noted by Billboard, the performance will serve as the official launch of their joint Kingdom tour outside of Puerto Rico. The 60-date tour kicked off on Dec. 5 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Their partnership also includes a joint album and a TV show.
Despite their years-long beef, the two artists have apparently put their rocky past behind them. Following the initial tour announcement, Omar felt compelled to clarify the partnership, saying, "Let me clarify: I am not his best friend, and he is not my best friend. But we respect each other. That desire to be the best is what has pushed us to be better."
In 2014, the two collaborated on tracks including "Tírate Al Medio (Throw Yourself in the Middle)" and "Yo Soy de Aquí (I'm From Here)" from Don Omar's The Last Don 2 LP.
Aside from Yankee and Omar, other confirmed performers include salsa star Victor Manuelle, Nicky Jam and Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga.
TV personalities María Celeste Arrarás, Angélica Vale, Giselle Blondet and Patricia Mantecosa have been confirmed as presenters, along with model Adriana Lima.
The Billboard Latin Music Awards, produced by Telemundo, will air on Thursday, April 28 at 8 p.m. from the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Florida. The red carpet preshow, La Alfombra de Premios Billboard, will air promptly at 7 p.m.
The awards show will serve as the kick off for Billboard Latin Music week and the Billboard Latin Music Conference.
