American Idol's top five contestants will finally be revealed tonight (March 17). And while a little Saint Patrick's Day luck cannot save one perfomer, Idol fans are lucky: this week's choices were picked by the fans.
After weeks of host Ryan Seacrest asking fans to tweet out song requests, the results have finally come in for this week. Each contestant will sing two songs, and their choices fall perfectly in line with what they do best.
La'Porshae Renae will show off her bold side with Mary J Blige's "No More Drama" and her subtle side with India Arie's "Ready for Love." Trent Harmon will finally be singing OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" in a song choice that makes too much sense, and Dalton Rapattoni is set to give his unique take on Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence."
There are also a few curious choices, including Tristan McIntosh tackling the Bon Jovi hit "It's My Life" and MacKenzie Bourg singing the Michael Jackson classic "Billie Jean," though he's likely to give that track his own acoustic-flavored makeover. Also, Sonika Vaid is set to take on the Frozen hit "Let It Go," which has done plenty of talent show contestants in in the past.
American Idol Top Five Song Choices:
Tristan McIntosh: "It's My Life" (Bon Jovi), "Independence Day" (Martina McBride)
Sonika Vaid: "Clarity" (Zedd), "Let It Go" (Demi Lovato/Idina Menzel)
Dalton Rapattoni: "Sound of Silence" (Simon and Garfunkel), "Numb" (Linkin Park)
La'Porsha Renae: "No More Drama" (Mary J Blige), "Ready for Love" (India Arie)
Trent Harmon: "Simple Man" (Lynyrd Skynyrd), "Counting Stars" (OneRepublic)
MacKenzie Bourg: "Billie Jean" (Michael Jackson), "Wild World" (Cat Stevens)
In addition to the Idol contestants, alumni Adam Lambert is coming back for tonight's episode. He's set to open up the show by revisiting his show-stopping cover of "Mad World." Lambert is also due to premiere his new single "Welcome to the Show." Empire star Jussie Smollett will also appear on the show to sing with the top six.
The American Idol top five episode is set to air tonight on FOX at 8 p.m. EST.
