Looks like students at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in New York City had a VERY good day yesterday. To celebrate the last day of classes, legendary crooner Tony Bennett and everyone's favorite pop icon Lady Gaga reportedly stopped by the school to make a surprise appearance. The duo then performed and hosted a master class in the Tony Bennett Concert Hall to an audience of 700 students. Like we said, the best school day ever...
In case you're wondering why the school has a hall named after the living legend, Bennett actually opened the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, Queens, back in 2001.
The famed singer makes frequent appearances – normally attending graduation – but this year proves to be difficult due to his hectic tour schedule. Therefore, Bennett did a little "pop in" and decided to bring his friend along with him. You know, the most famous person in the world.
Once settled in, and after everyone was able to curb their excitement, the duo discussed an array of topics including jazz music, creativity and The Great American Songbook. They then performed a number of classics. Bennett sang "The Very Thought of You" and Gaga reportedly entertained the crowd with Cole Porter's "Every Time We Say Goodbye."
This isn't the first time Bennett and Gaga have been seen together. He's been rather outspoken about his love for the singer over the years. "When I first heard Gaga sing, my reaction was that she is going to be bigger than Elvis," he said. "She is so bright and intelligent and she has it. In jazz you either got it, the syncopation, the rhythm or you don't, and when I heard Gaga I said she's got it!"
The two performed together on Bennett's 2011 Duets II album, where they sang "The Lady Is a Tramp."
