Talk about airing out dirty laundry. Australian singer-songwriter Sia apparently has been in a feud with her dry cleaners in Queens and has brought her 465,000 Twitter followers into it.
As Gothamist points out, the pop singer took to Twitter yesterday to complain that her dry cleaners ruined some of her clothes and "won't take responsibility." Not really a surprise for those who have ever been to a dry cleaner, but apparently it really got to Sia.
To get back at the company, Sia asked her fans to "prank" them by ruining their Yelp reputation with bad reviews.
"BEST SUGGESTION!! Please write ridiculous terrible reviews HERE," she wrote with a link to Metropolitan Garment Cleaning's Yelp page.
A few of her fans came to her aid and reviewed the cleaners. As Gothamist points out, most of the posts were from people who don't even live in New York or even in the United States. Some of the reviews were clearly jokes and others were a bit dramatic.
However, many other Yelp users came to the shop's defense, condemning Sia for using her celebrity to destroy a small business and more or less calling her a bully.
Gothamist reached out to Metropolitan Garment Cleaning for a comment. An employee responded saying, "We have a lot of customers. What can you do?"
It now appears, thankfully, that Sia is over it. She posted yesterday afternoon, "Moving on. thanks guys!"
