The 2014 self-titled record from Toronto punk rock outfit PUP was one of the most exciting LPs of the year, which had fans anxiously awaiting a follow-up, which was just announced this week. After we heard the 2016 single "DVP" earlier in the year, we knew that an announcement would come soon - and it has! PUP have shared a new music video for the new single, "If this Tour Doesn't Kill You, I Will," which you can watch below, along with the release date and title of the new record, The Dream is Dead. The band is also headed out on a tour in support of the LP, so check them out below as well.
The Dream is Dead has a release date set for May 27th through SideOneDummy/Royal Mountain Records, and almost didn't even come together.
If you've been following the band over the years, you probably know that lead singer Stefan Babcock had developed a hemorrhaging cyst on his vocal chords, with a devastating diagnosis from his doctor. According to Consequence of Sound, the new album title is a direct quote from the physician, which has clearly been ignored.
Releasing the song "DVP" earlier this year, fans were reassured about the band's future, but the new music video that premiered this week is sure to make it clear that PUP is going along with the dream.
