Tegan and Sara Share "Boyfriend" Off of New Album 'Love You to Death' [LISTEN]

Tegan and Sara recently revealed the news that their eighth studio album, Love You to Death, will be available on June 3, 2016, and this week shared the first single, "Boyfriend." In a brief interview on Beats 1, Sara spoke about the meaning behind the song's lyrics and how it came together. You can listen to this new pop tune right here!

The indie-pop sister duo teased the premiere of the song on Twitter ahead of the first listen to "Boyfriend," which quickly started to spread.

You can check out our previous coverage of the sisters' announcement of Love You to Death right here! "I was getting into [a relationship] with a girl who had never dated a girl before. She had a guy that she was sort of seeing, and we used to joke around that she was treating me like her boyfriend, and I was trying to get her to tie it down. I wanted her to make it official with me," Sara revealed to Beats 1 in a quick interview preceding the premiere, according to Vulture. "We've all been in that situation where we really like someone and we want to make it official and they're not ready." Check out the song right here (via Spin):

Fans of the sisters will definitely hear the similarities between this new song and their last album, Heartthrob, which dove deep into their pop music influences. If "Boyfriend" is any hint at what's to come, we're in for another great record.
