Drake Announces Official Release Date for 'Views From the 6,' Rapper Talks Album Details

Fans have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Drake's new album ever since he revealed it would be dropping some time in April. Well, the guessing game is finally over. The rapper announced Views From the 6 will release on Apr. 29 exclusively on Apple Music and shared more details about the highly anticipated project.

On Saturday (Apr. 9), the 29-year-old Toronto native took to the airwaves during a live broadcast of episode 19 on OVOSOUND Radio to reveal the official release date of his upcoming fourth studio album. Drake was accompanied by his manager Oliver El-Khatib and Flat White (Virgil Abloh).

That wasn't the only gem he dropped. Drake also stated the album is not completely ready for consumer ears just yet, confirming he's still working hard to put in the final touches. Fans won't have to worry about a shortage of material on Views either. There's a plethora of tracks to look forward to.

"It's something that I've been working really hard on, myself and 40... Trying to craft a lifestyle track, a sound for our city," Drake said during the interview. "It's not a short ting. There's a lot of music on there. You'll have your full share of Drake music for the summer and for the year-forever."

Despite the wait for the album, Drake made it his mission to supply fans with some heat to prepare them for what's to come. He first introduced listeners to the project's lead single, "Summer Sixteen," which instantly became a radio hit.

Earlier this week, Drake also premiered two surprise tracks: "Pop Style" featuring Jay Z and Kanye West (also known as The Throne) and "One Dance" featuring WizKid and Kyla. His social media accounts have been the ultimate spots to find new info and teasers about the album, including artwork.

"It's going to be what everybody expects and wants from Drake and from us," Noah "40" Shebib told The New York Times of Views. "A lot of introspection, very vivid. He's discovering new flows, new cadences, new patterns."

With just 19 days left till Views From the 6 arrives, do you think Drake will drop any other singles before the big day? Although it has yet to be revealed how long the album will remain on Apple Music exclusively, you still have a lot of time to join the streaming service before you miss out!
