News broke earlier this week that, after some rumors and hopes, a hologram of hip-hop icon Christopher "The Notorious B.I.G" Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls, would now be available for use at concerts, festivals and even music videos. We all remember the Tupac Shakur hologram, right? This is the world we're going to live in, so why not add to the list? I've compiled a list of five other deceased music icons that should come back to life digitally through holographic technology.
Honestly, there's no point arguing that we deserve to have these, or any, artists back on stage, even if we can walk through them. Actually, don't think about that. Anyway, on to the list!
David Bowie
If you're thinking, "This guy just died. Why should we make him a hologram already?" The answer is quite simple: shut up, we'll always need David Bowie no matter what form he takes. Though the legend passed away in January of this year, getting him back on stage in hologram form makes so much sense. I'd go as far to say that a hologram is more relatable to Bowie than his actual human body. He was out of this world, so why should we ever let go of him if we have the technology?
Frank Sinatra
"Ol' Blue Eyes" had one of the most iconic voices in history, and he was pretty easy on the eyes, too. Mix that together and you've get the best example of a hologram subject I can even fathom. If we add in his personality, he might get slightly racist, which would just add to the experience!
Bob Marley
Can you imagine what would happen if Coachella or Burning Man (obvious joke jumps into your head) announced that Bob Marley's hologram was headlining one of their festivals' days? When I think about it, why isn't Marley's hologram on tour right now? It's not like the audience would really notice he wasn't real.
Freddie Mercury
This one seems like a huge "duh" at this point on the list. Queen is still touring, but let's get Freddie back on stage for sold-out arena concerts like the ones we've seen the band play in the early '80s. If you're like me, you weren't even born when Queen was doing this, so this would make so many dreams come true, right?
Aaliyah
Sure, Chris Brown brought an Aaliyah hologram to life in the music video for "They Don't Know," which was pretty cool, but let's get her on stage! Hip-hop artists sample her songs all the time, so it would be such a treat to see a hologram mouthing the words of the late, great R&B songstress.
