Kygo, James Vincent McMorrow "I'm In Love" Review: DJ Delivers 'Cloud Nine' Love Ballad

Kygo has been touring Europe, playing arenas and getting private guided tours of famous soccer stadiums, but that has not stopped the stream of new music as he gears up to release his debut artist album Cloud Nine in just about a month. The latest single "I'm In Love" finds Kygo once again linking up with an Irish rock output, James Vincent McMorrow for a love ballad.

The track starts out the yearning cries of McMorrow of "I'm in love," before a soft instrumental of piano and echoing percussion slowly builds under layered vocals by the singer. The track bottoms out once again into the distant shouts of McMorrow before building into even more percussion, while using the Irish singer's voice as an instrument in the second crescendo.

The track can take a second to get used to with the "I'm in love" shouts appearing possibly a few too many times, but otherwise the piano and lack of tropical house notes found in most of his previous singles is a good sign that the album is coming together without being a pure tropical house album. That works for singles, but a full album probably wouldn't have worked with the same five or six notes over an entire hour.

"I'm In Love" is the latest single to emerge from Kygo's upcoming album Cloud Nine that will be released on May 13 via Sony Music / Ultra Records. He has already released singles such as "Fragile" with Labrinth and "Stay" with Maty Moyes. His track with Parson James "Stole The Show" just went gold in the United States, another major milestone for the young Norwegian.

Stream the "I'm In Love" and pick it up, along with an album pre-order, on iTunes.
