Kendrick Lamar recently sat down with 93.7 The Beat's Devi Dev while in Houston to chat about the pressures facing him following the critically acclaimed release of his major label debut, good Kid, m.A.A.d City.
"It's not really pressure," he explained. "I just keep the same instinct of doing what I feel, you know, what makes me feel good at the moment. It's really just excitement to get back in the studio and do what I do. I don't really feel pressure."
When asked what it felt like for his debut to be labeled as a classic right of the bat, he said the experience was "crazy."
"I don't take that word lightly," he added. "You know that excitement, I really appreciate that. I respect that 100 percent. I put a lot of work into it and I really can't focus on the past as far as remembering what was said then. You're only as good as your last piece of work. So now, it's about what is right now and putting that same 110 percent in like I did on the last one."
As far as the title, Lamar said he isn't sure what it will be. "I'll probably know exactly what it is as soon as I finish the music." He did, however, confirm that he has begun work on the effort.
Lamar also talked about his appreciation for his fans that have been there since day one and what it's like to be touring the globe.
