Tom DeLonge is still in Blink 182, and he wants you to know it. To reiterate a recent Facebook post, he is just “digging deeper into relationships.” While DeLonge has a whole separate project, Angels & Airwaves, he wanted to assuage your mind that he is not gone for good. He was supposedly booted from the band in January 2015, but has been protesting that ever since. In a new Facebook post, he talks the exact status of Blink 182.
“We DO have a future together if we want it, but for now we are busy doing separate things,” DeLonge posted. “I am directing a movie this summer, releasing a couple more albums of music and digging deeper into my relationships with the US Government and the Sekret Machines Project.”
DeLonge had also spoken to Rolling Stone earlier this week about how he had never been separated from Blink 182 although he did say, “The band has always been dysfunctional. The only time we all really communicated daily was in Blink’s first, sort of, trimester.”
The Facebook post follows a summer tour announcement, which will replace DeLonge with Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio. Their just released single “Bored to Death” is also the first music released by the band sans DeLonge. The tour will run with A Day to Remember, All-American Rejects and All Time Low. “Bored to Death” was the first single from their first album California.
DeLonge ended with, “I look forward to my upcoming adventures, and a hell of a lot more… Maybe even a bit of Blink-182 if we can build back that ‘special something’ that was once there.”
