Just days after the release of Drake dropped his new album Views, the rapper spoke candidly during a Beats 1 interview about the state of his relationship with Nicki Minaj, the beef between Lil Wayne and Birdman and so much more.
Drake released his fourth studio album, Views, on Thursday, April 28, and sat down with Beats 1's Zane Lowe to talk about the album and much more during the Apple's OVO Sound Radio interview, as reported by Highsnobiety.
The "Hotline Bling" rapper had a lot to say about his latest project, some of the most important people in his life, and even those who are not so important any more, like Nicki Minaj. Drake and Minaj's boyfriend, fellow rapper Meek Mill, have been publicly on the outs for some time now, mentioning each other in multiple released tracks in a not so pleasant manner. The ongoing feud between the two may have drawn a wedge between the Young Money Entertainment artists as Drake explained in the interview.
"I don't really talk to Nicki," explained Drake during the Beats 1 interview according to Billboard. "Another person I have a lot of love for ... She dealt with me how I would expect her to -- with class. I always have respect and love for her. Unfortunately, we haven't spoke."
The Views artist also spoke about the business feud between label heads Lil Wayne and Birdman.
"That's business, man," stated Drake. "It's a situation I pray gets resolved. It's a legacy. It was amazing to see Kobe(Bryant) score 60 points. I want to see them go out and score 60 points."
In the meantime, Drake is staying focused on his music and looking forward to collaborating with artists like Kanye West, who he revealed already has music to release to the world; and continuing his working relationship with Rihanna.
"We do well as a team," Drake explained of his relationship with the "Work" singer. "A lot of the music and energy we have is genuine. We have a genuine energy."
