Chris Brown Jailed For Hit-And-Run Charge, Albeit Only For 45 Minutes or So

Chris Brown was jailed on Monday in relation to an ongoing hit-and-run investigation, but fans of the R&B star shouldn't get too worked up. The performer was out on bail in under 45 minutes. Due to overcrowding in prisons, it's not all that rare for those with minor charges to be handled quickly and shipped out to make room.

The jailing was in relation to a June incident where Brown was driving with (possible) girlfriend Karrueche Tran when he rear-ended a Mercedes Benz. Here's where the details get murky, depending on who you ask. According to the driver of the car, Brown failed to provide information and angrily cursed at her before driving off. If you believe Brown, he provided license and insurance information before driving off. If you believe the Los Angeles Police Department, Brown did provide a license and insurance information, but the insurance was for his Lamborghini, not the Land Rover he was driving, which belonged to Tran. One way or another, Brown was charged with hit-and-run.

A judge revoked Brown's probation from his infamous assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. There is a final hearing on August 19 to determine whether Brown was in fact in probation. If so, he faces up to four years in prison, but the performer will be free to go if cleared.

Neither Brown nor his representatives have commented on his brief stint in jail. Brown got out of his cell in time to hang out with Tran, back to being his girlfriend, at the Orange County Fair.
