Lovers of Frank Sinatra rejoice! Word has it that Ol' Blue Eyes' very first New Jersey driver's license is currently up for auction.
From what we've gleaned, it appears Sinatra was not that great of a driver in the beginning.
Billboard reports that the oh, so yellowed license from 1934 was issued to a young "Francis Sintra" –– yep, back in the day it seems misspellings on one's license was okay.
The ID was registered to Sinatra's home address of 841 Garden St. in Hoboken, New Jersey. And yes, his eyes are reported as blue.
At the time of it's issue Sinatra was 19-years-old, just one year before he got his break in the music industry and became the Frank Sinatra many of us would grow to love.
Whatever bidder finds themselves lucky enough to win the famed crooner's license will also find another piece of treasure included. The winning bid will get to keep a letter from back in 1940 made out to the state Commissioner of Motor Vehicles from the lawyer of a man who supposedly had been in a car accident with Sinatra. The letter demands that his driving rights be taken away until he pays.
As of yesterday afternoon, the auction was at $2,500. Bidders will have until 6PM this Thursday to snag the aforementioned items, which are being sold by RR Auction, located in Boston, Massachusetts.
Well, it's not exactly the $2 million that stationary containing original lyrics to Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" went for, but it's a start.
