Seaside Holiday Drops "The End of All Things," Preps LP 'Grand Tours' for Summer Release

Midwestern indietronica act Seaside Holiday are preparing to release their sophomore album, Grand Tours, this summer. Protégés of homespun electro heroes Joy Electric, the brother-sister duo dropped the new record's lead single, "The End of All Things (New Horizons)," earlier this year.

Singer-songwriter Cara McQuate and her multi-instrumentalist brother, Morgan, formed Seaside Holiday in 2010. Ohio natives, they've now found themselves the indie rock ambassadors of their quaint hamlet of Ashland, a college town about 60 miles south of Lake Erie.

The pair issued their eponymous debut, Seaside Holiday, in 2012. The album, a stark but cozy collection of catchy electronic pop, featured production from Joy Electric's resident monosynthian, Ronnie Martin (now an Ohio citizen himself). The band has since released both a Christmas single and a split EP with short-lived Buckeye State cohorts, A Proper Kiss.

In a review at Spartan News, journalist Jordan Spurling praised the group's self-titled effort as a strong mixture of the electronic and rock genres, foretelling the band's eventual melodic expedition of Grand Tours with his nomadic characterization:

"The combination of synthesizer and pop rock of Seaside Holiday is a very unique style of music composed by the McQuates. Next time you're in the mood to go through a musical journey, let this album layered in sound take you there."

Grand Tours promises to deliver a mature, advanced take on the band's detailed electro-pop symphonies. In an interview with Tuned Up, the group acutely described their musical charge as a survivalist sojourn through the lens of their synthesized sonic sculptures:

"We exist to chronicle a mortal trek through a fleeting life by way of tones and timbre. Sharing and partaking in the vast array of music that is within our reach is what provides a colorful back drop to a sometimes bleak landscape."

Below, watch the band's new music video for the aforementioned single, "The End of All Things," directed by Morgan McQuate, and be sure to catch Grand Tours when released this summer.
