At the China Exchange in London, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose talked about new music, his theoretical autobiography and his upcoming string of dates with AC/DC in an interview.
Rose is currently touring with Guns N’ Roses for their reunion tour, entitled Not In This Lifetime, following a debut performance at Coachella music festival.
“We are working on new stuff,” Rose said at the China Exchange. “I’ve got a lot of stuff together, and I played some stuff for Slash and Duff and they liked it. And Angus [Young, AC/DC guitarist] and I are talking about working together.”
“It’s tough, because I have to figure out how to word things in a way that doesn’t just look like I’m being negative to everyone else or calling them a liar,” Rose said, exposing soon after that he’d had a problem with Slash’s autobiography and the way that he was represented in it.
He continued with, “Slash and I hadn’t talked in 19 years, and when we reunited it was a good talk. And I was like, ‘You wrote a lot of stuff that didn’t even happen. It’s not real.'”
Axl went on to explain that he doesn’t plan on releasing a solo album “unless it was instrumental soundtrack stuff.” He also expressed that he feels “protective” of Brian Johnson as he tours with AC/DC on their Rock Or Bust Tour in Europe and America, and that he doesn’t want to let Johnson down.
In other tour news, the band recently hit a snag regarding their upcoming gig in Foxboro, Massachusetts on July 19 and 20. They are slated to perform at the Gillette Stadium but were denied a request to prolong their set until 11:40 p.m. in regards to the town’s live music curfew of 11:15 p.m. Their request was reportedly denied because the shows are taking place during the week on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. The stadium’s advisory committee had approved the later show, but they were drowned out by the town councilors.
