Kesha has announced a handful of Las Vegas residency dates amidst the Dr. Luke legal battle and following her performance at the BBMAs.
According to Billboard, the singer will give three performances this upcoming summer, beginning on June 23. Reportedly, Kesha will be showcasing her original catalog, comprised of seven top 10 singles as well as three as a featured artist. The residency dates will take place at Intrigue Nightclub.
Kesha recently performed onstage in Las Vegas this past month for the Billboard Music Awards. At the awards show the singer did a rendition of “It Ain’t Me, Babe” by Bob Dylan and was accompanied by Ben Folds on piano and Rob Moose on violin.
Reportedly, Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe label had initially denied Kesha’s request to perform at the BBMAs but then changed their mind. While the original case failed last April, she is set to re-examine the rape allegations against him under oath in a new deposition. Kesha is continuing to move forward with legal action against her former producer.
Kemosabe released a statement that read, “Kesha’s performance on the Billboard Music Awards was always approved, in good faith. Approval was only suspended when Kemosabe learned Kesha was to use the performance as a platform to discuss the litigation.”
It further said, “Now that Kemosabe has obtained assurances, that it is relying upon, from Kesha, her representatives and Dick Clark Productions that neither Kesha nor her supporters will use the performance as such a platform, the approval has been restored.”
The current state of Kesha's contract is that she is allowed to work with other producers aside from her alleged rapist Dr. Luke, but the producer and Kemosabe will still receive a percentage of any profits she makes musically. It appears that she is still largely under their control due to their power to grant or deny permission for the singer to perform live.
