Following his enormously successful 2015 single, “Take Me To Church,” Hozier is ready to begin work on his second album. His self-titled album was released in 2014 and in an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, the producer is talking his plans for new music.
Hozier said in his interview with the radio show, “I’ve never been so eager to make music. I’m itching for it. In a big way. If this opportunity had happened at a different time I would have just been spent, but I had maybe six days of quiet and I can’t really write on the road. But when it all stops and things are quiet again you’re ready for things to fall out of you. I have a phone full of memos and loads of notebooks with little melodic ideas.”
The producer also talked about the hardships of writing while on tour, saying, “There’s many times recording on a phone and trying to transfer it into my laptop and into software. It doesn’t feel the same.”
Hozier recently released his new song, “Better Love,” which is slated to be featured on the upcoming movie The Legend of Tarzan. According to NME, the movie was directed by David Yates, who infamously directed the Harry Potter movies and it stars Alexander Skarsgard and Margot Robbie. Hozier further expressed how much of a challenge writing a song for Hollywood was and that he had only three weeks to complete it.
In other Hozier news, his single “Take Me To Church” topped the U.K. year end charts for 2015, selling 1.25 million copies and garnered the third spot on the list. It beat out Ellie Goulding, a Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth collaboration, Adele, Major Lazer, Justin Bieber and James Bay.
