Remy Ma dispelled any rumors that she and fellow rapper Nicki Minaj may be at odds for the unofficial title of today's rap queen with one tweet, congratulating her on her recent 2016 BET Awards win.
Leave it to the streets to create a beef between two respected female rappers where there isn't one. Though past lyrics from both Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj led fans to believe there was only one throne for the hottest female rapper and both ladies were gunning for it, Remy Ma (Reminisce Mackie) shut all speculation down when she tweeted a congratulatory message to the Young Money rapper who, as reported by All Hip Hop, just won the 2016 BET Award for "Best Female Hip Hop Artist."
The message was not only well received by thousands of twitter followers but, also by the Trinidadian-born rapper herself who responded with a heartfelt message of gratitude to her predecessor.
Speculations of a developing feud between the two began to surface just before Mackie was incarcerated to serve a six-year sentence back in 2008. The "Anaconda" rapper released a track on a mixtape that was presumably directed toward the Terror Squad rapper, as explained by Smith herself in a 2014 Huffington Post interview.
"There was never really a battle brewing with me and Nicki," explained Smith. "There was the one record [she had],...I had heard it, and she had a mixtape party or something and I was like 'I'm going to go to her party.' I went to her party and we met and it was cool....About a couple weeks later she ended up coming to my birthday party and right after that I ended up catching this case."
Mackie later released a track with DJ Suss One titled "Poppin" where she recited lyrics like, "who's really the best female if Rem ain't there," fueling the rumors surrounding the beef.
Nice to know the ladies are showing everyone there's nothing but love between them.
