Los Angeles is filled with excitement for tonight's televise of the 2014 BET Awards but unfortunately, things got violent last night in two separate incidents.
Billboard reports that a shooting and stabbing occurred on Saturday night and early Sunday at events where preshow parties were held for this year's BET Awards.
Reports say a man was stabbed at a party inside Lure Nightclub in Hollywood.
Police say they received reports of the stabbing at 8:45 p.m. The victim was a man in his 30s.
He was listed in stable condition at Cedars-Sinai. According to LAPD officer Drake Madison, no suspect information was available as of Sunday morning.
Another incident occurred on Sunday morning at 5:17 am at the Monalizza Restaurant and Banquet.
"I've been told that it was a pre-party for BET," officer Madison said of the event held at the Monalizza.
Madison also said there were five victims in the incident. One victim died at a local hospital.
A BET spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that the violent incidents occurred at events that were "unauthorized and unaffiliated" with official awards events held at L.A. Live.
"The two isolated incidents over the weekend occurred at locations with events that were unauthorized and unaffiliated with the BET Awards, BET Experience at L.A. LIVE or their partners," the BET rep stated. "Security remains the number one priority for all official BET events and the network and all organizers will continue to maintain a safe environment for all planned activities."
The BET Awards air Sunday at 8 p.m. and are being hosted by Chris Rock.
