After being an active player in the music industry for over a decade, Pitbull has finally received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in California. According to the "Timber" rapper, his star is dedicated to all the Latinos who are working hard to achieve a better life in the U.S.
The unveiling of Pitbull's star was held on Friday and was attended by fans and close friends of the rapper such as Lil Jon, record label owner Luther Campbell and motivational speaker Tony Robbins, E! Online reported.
But aside from his achievements in the music industry, which include having 70 million single sales and 9 billion YouTube views, Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, was also honored for the way he overcame the obstacles in his life.
"I'd like to honor a young boy Armando, because he's who built Mr. World Wide," Robbins said during the ceremony according to E! Online. "A young boy who was a first-generation Cuban American in Miami's little Havana."
"In a community that is stressed, in a community where often the most respected people sell drugs," he added. "His life could've been completely different, in fact, should've been based on the law of averages. He's a man where somewhere inside he's got so much love for people that he couldn't hurt anyone."
Aside from getting his own Hollywood Walk of Fame star, Pitbull also recently released a new music video for his song "Sexy Beaches," which was from his 2014 album, Globalization. According to Gulf News, the entire video is actually an advertisement for Florida and is the outcome of the partnership between the rapper and Visit Florida, the state's tourism marketing corporation.
As a tourism campaign for the state, the 4-minute clip takes viewers to the various beautiful hotels and beaches lining Florida.
