Former 'Voice' Contestant Christina Grimmie's Autopsy Report Released, Died of Gunshot Wounds

Christina Grimmie’s autopsy report has been released and according to records, the former contestant on The Voice died from “gunshot wounds of the head and chest." Grimmie was killed this past June during a meet-and-greet with her fans following a show in Orlando. The YouTube celebrity was brought to a local hospital and passed away shortly thereafter.

“In consideration of the circumstances surrounding the death, and after examination of the body, toxicology analysis, and review of the available medical records, it is my opinion that the death of Christina Grimmie, a 22-year-old white female witnessed to have been shot by another and subsequently transported to the hospital, is the result of gunshot wounds of the head and chest. The manner of death is homicide,” a report released by E! News stated.

Her brother Marcus, who was present during the shooting, identified her body for autopsy.

Following her death, police confirmed that Grimmie had been specifically targeted by the shooter, 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl. He additionally had a hunting knife, two loaded magazines and two handguns in his possession when he approached her during the meet and greet.

Police chief John Mina confirmed that security guards at The Plaza that night were unarmed although patron’s bags and purses were checked for contraband prior to entry. There were also no pat-downs or metal detectors present at the venue. Liobl killed himself after being tackled by Grimmie’s brother, who prevented him from shooting anyone else.

“It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord,” Grimmie’s publicist Heither Weiss said in a statement to CNN following her death. “We ask at this time that you respect her family and friends in their time of mourning.”
