On Monday, Dr. Dre was handcuffed and searched by law enforcers at his home in Malibu after they received a call indicating that the rap mogul threatened someone with a firearm.
The incident started after Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, saw a motorist parked in front of his home's driveway, TMZ reported. According to the celebrity news site, Young told the male driver to leave. However, as he drove away, he started cussing at the rapper.
As the driver continued to yell at him, Young pulled out his cellphone to record the man. The driver then reportedly said that he saw Young take out a handgun. This was what prompted him to call 911.
"Here we go again, another black guy with a gun," the man reportedly said according to TMZ.
However, representatives of Young maintained that the rapper never took out a gun during the incident. He also did not threaten the motorist.
"Mr. Young said he pulled out his cellphone to begin filming the person, and the person drove away," the spokesperson said according to E! Online. "Mr. Young denied threatening the person."
After deputies from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department arrived on the scene, they handcuffed Young and searched for the alleged weapon. They then briefly detained him inside a police car as they carried on with their investigation.
Young was eventually released from police custody since the law enforcers did not find a gun.
It is not yet clear what the driver's motive was for aggravating Young since investigations are still ongoing. However, the Sherriff's Department intends to submit the motorist's report to the District Attorney, which means there's a possibility that a case against Young will be filed.
