Denis Leary On ‘Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll’: Comedian Creates New Music-Themed Comedy Series For FX Networks, Will Feature Original Music And Rock Star Appearances

It's been just three years since comedian Denis Leary left FX after his hit Rescue Me ended back in 2011 but word has it that he's teaming up with the network yet again in a music-themed comedy series titled Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.

The series will be a 10-episode season set to air sometime in 2015 and will star Leary as Johnny Rock, the frontman of New York City's legendary 90's group, The Heathens. Throughout the season, Rock will attempt to get both his life and band back together.

Also starring in the show will be John Corbett, Elizabeth Gillies, Bobby Kelly and Elaine Hendrix. Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll will be shot on location in New York City and produced by FX, FOX television studios and Leary's über successful production company, Apostle, which released not only Rescue Me but also currently produces Maron for IFC.

On the project, Leary stated, "I am extremely elated at the opportunity to once again be working with John Landgraf and the fine executive talent over at FX. They have a great platform for comedy, an award-winning marketing team and an amazing new Nespresso machine in the conference room. The Gran Maestria C520 Platinum? Get this: It heats the cup! Also, doing this show with FX will allow me to live one of my last show-business dreams: Emmy winner Peter Tolan will be playing my gay stepdad. I know what you're thinking – isn't Peter just a few years older than Denis? In fact, we are the same exact age. I'm just prettier."

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll will find itself alongside seven other live-action and animated comedy pilots for the network, including the upcoming Billy Crystal / Josh Gad project The Comedians.
