Ja Rule and Ashanti have decided to change the name of their tour to avoid insulting the victims of senseless violence that's currently plaguing the country. Instead of Natural Born Killers, the serious of concerts is now simply called Natural Born Tour.
According to the rapper, he and Ashanti have the right to choose the name for their tour. But they still decided to change it to avoid glorifying acts of murder and violence, TMZ reported. Ja Rule also told the celebrity news site that keeping the name Natural Born Killers would be insensitive to the family members who lost their loved ones.
To make the change official, Ja Rule posted a promotional material for the tour on his Instagram account. Although the name Natural Born Killers is still visible, the word Killers has been crossed out.
According to the image, the tour will begin on Aug. 25 at New York City's The PlayStation Theater and will end on Sept. 10 at the Joy Theater in New Orleans. Throughout the event, Ashanti and Ja Rule will be traveling to various places including Philadelphia, Virginia, California, Washington, Florida and Georgia.
The change to the tour's name was made weeks after Dallas experienced a deadly mass shooting that resulted to the deaths of five police officers. The attack occurred as the law enforcers were patrolling the city during a Black Lives Matter protest, according to USA Today.
Just a couple of days before the shooting in Dallas happened, Philando Castile and Alton Sterling were shot and killed by police officers in separate incidents. Sterling was killed in Louisiana while he was being held down by two officers while Castile was gunned down in Minnesota during a traffic stop.
